Plot-A-Thon gives students from any college the opportunity to learn about working with data through workshops from experienced professionals and peer tutors, then use that knowledge in a fun competition! Plot-A-Thon consists of Fall workshops that prepare students for the Plot-A-Thon Main Event: the February 28-hour Data Visualization Competition. During the Main Event held in CSUCI’s Broome Library, students are invited to spend the night, hack-a-thon style, while they work on the projects (overnight is optional). There will be plenty of food, caffeinated beverages, workshops, tutors, networking opportunities, and activities throughout the evening!

It is the ultimately “learning by doing” experience!

Mental Health Impact of Transformación on Staff and Faculty at HSIs

Keynote: Adriana Alejandre, LMFT

Founder of Latinx Therapy, trauma psychotherapist, podcaster, and nationally recognized mental health advocate

An interactive 45-minute discussion on systemic challenges staff and faculty at Hispanic Serving Institutions face and how these challenges impact the mental health of not only the staff and faculty, but also the students they serve. This talk will include an exploration of cultural factors that influence our communication style, how the transformation process connects with accountability, compassion fatigue, and burnout and its impact on the nervous system. Recommended strategies to create a culturally attuned environment during change with an emphasis on mental health will be shared.

Practical tools and a co-regulation exercise will be implemented to model collective care that staff and faculty could utilize on their own or with their students. A Q&A will follow this talk. Resources connected to the topic will be shared.
